About 22,000 Americans die on deficient roadways each year. That’s why we can’t afford to delay action on a robust six-year surface transportation investment bill, according to a 2009 ad from the The Transportation Construction Coalition. The group, which consists of “28 national associations and construction unions representing hundreds of thousands of individuals with a direct market interest in federal transportation programs,” ran three print ads in 2009. The purpose was to convince Congress to pass a multi-year surface transportation bill. The Coalition supports an increase in gasoline taxes to fund the authorization bill.
