This infographic on The Cost of Traffic Congestion provides little new information for long-time transportation policy folks.  However it does provide a good reminder: Bottlenecks and incidents are the leading causes of traffic congestion. That highlights the importance of continued funding to address bottlenecks, and of “freeway helper” services operated by state and city DOTs in clearing incidents quickly.
