AAA’s pilot program in five cities should help to reduce “range anxiety” for prospective and current owners of electric vehicles.
The AAA trucks (read AAA’s news release) will be able to provide 10 to 15 minutes of charge time to stalled electric vehicles, which would allow the vehicle to drive three to 15 miles to a charging station. The pilot metropolitan areas are Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Knoxville, and the Tampa Bay.
Earlier this week a Portland Nissan Leaf owner told me that he had range anxiety initially. But after three months of operation, learning the limits of his car and the location of charging stations, his range anxiety has disappeared.
